The end of the year always seems to be a mad rush. In between closing up for the year and finalising plans with family, you have the stress of meeting your yearly goals and planning for the new year. Even though December brings the mad rush, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the year that has passed, slow down, and to step back so that you are refreshed for the year to come. We’ll show you how to #NoTech this festive season:
Even though some of us still work during the silly season, most people tend to take on the holiday mindset and take time to relax. This makes it the perfect time of the year to take the much-needed break you need to recharge and de-stress from the busy year. Armed with a lighter schedule, you now can spend some time with colleagues over lunch, talk to your networks and find out how their year has been so far and what they plan to do for the next year.
Try to forget about the never-ending to-do lists, allow for the time to slow down and to enjoy the season.
Instead of trying to meet crazy last-minute deadlines and end of year quotas, take the time to look back on what was achieved in the year that just flew passed. Have a look at the whole picture and ask yourself:
Then start setting some new goals and create an action plan for how they will be achieved. By using this analysis to determine the best strategy, you will discover what new tactics should be tried and what old tactics need to be used again.
It is very easy for work and stress to follow you home from the office. Use this quiet time to spend some time with family and friends and enjoy the season and the events that happen around this time of the year. It is difficult to let go of all work concerns, especially when your smartphone is endlessly buzzing with notifications. Switch off the notifications and take time to look at what is happening around you and focus your energy on spending time with your loved ones.
The holiday season has always been a time of giving back to the community which helps build your business. So now is the time to get into the holiday spirit and give back! You can either take up a collection for toys or donate some of your time and volunteer at an organisation which is close to your heart, or resonate with your company’s mission and values.
Giving back to the community brings happiness to both the receiver and the person giving, so spread some happiness and joy wherever you can, and it will come back to you.
