Our member Hover is looking for a UX researcher for some contracting work potentially leading to a full-time role.
About Hover
Hover (usehover.com) builds tools for Android developers. The company’s mission is to build an inclusive internet and they are a completely distributed, asynchronous team with colleagues all over the world, from the metropolises of East Africa to the American West Coast and the Canadian Sub-Arctic.
What will be required:
The workload will be roughly one usability study per month for the foreseeable future. Each usability study might include:
- Protocols for the study
- 5-10 usability tests (~30-45 minutes each)
- One succinct report
- A few hours of video conference meetings and messaging on Slack about recruiting, protocols, and findings
Applicants must be able to:
- Recommend the best methodologies for research goals
- Write and follow a research plan / protocol based on the methodologies chosen
- Conduct usability tests with participants using either high-fidelity prototypes or live software products
- Synthesize the data from the sessions and write usability reports based on their findings
- Work with the Design Team at Hover to make suggestions for product improvements based on research findings
- Work with the Hover Product Team to recruit a diverse set of participants to test with
Location requirements
Applicants must live and work in Nairobi, Accra, Lagos, Dar es Salaam, or another location with an active tech community and high mobile money adoption with transactions over USSD and/or
