It is said that the world is now a global village and this is attributed to the inter-connectivity and flexibility that the internet provides.
Africa is expanding in terms of reach of internet access and connectivity to the World Wide Web with East Africa being the leader in the region.
East African countries led by Kenya’s ICT Authority came up with Connected East Africa, a forum to share ideas and make policies on how to integrate East Africa.
This year’s summit will have two key agendas;
-Discuss how to build an integrated ICT infrastructure in the region.
-Establishing a platform for collaboration, capacity building and knowledge sharing.
Nairobi being a leader in tech innovation and incubators will certainly have a lot to offer the East Africa community with regards to this and in attendance will be representatives from all member states of the East Africa Community.
Some of the successes of previous deliberations that have successfully been implemented in Kenya include;
-The Kenya Open Data Initiative
-Huduma Citizen’s Portal
-National information Security policy
These successes and others in the works ensure Connected East Africa continues to be the number one forum for East Africa’s tech and interconnectivity advancement.
This will be the 7th edition of the summit and it will be held in Nairobi from March 30 to April 2nd.
