Hello awesome people! Happy World Health Day! Today I have a special feature for you to get you excited about keeping fit and staying healthy in the office space. We underestimate the potential of simple things and the magic it can make to contribute to our health and well being.  Here’s our seven tips on being healthy in the office space today:

1. Having a Heavy Break fast

You have probably heard this way too many times but I will go ahead and say it out loud again, you know what they say constant repetition carries conviction. Have breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and dinner like a beggar. Yes peeps!Getting those essential calories out in the day can really boost your energy, keep up your mood and you’ll be wondering where all that enthusiasm dropped out of. In fact science has proven that if you want to stay fit and stick to your stringent diet regimen than you definitely have to load up in the morning. A big breakfast is surely the secret to that six pack figure in the office space. Plus if you get catered breakfasts provided in your office space, then why not just enjoy the benefits of being in a co-working office space that prioritizes work-force well being! At least this way you save some shillings for chapos and mandazis later in the day :)

2. An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

This is true to the core no pun intended. ell, for all the tech kids, I don’t mean staring into you Apple Pro-Book for the rest of the day is going to make you health pro 101. I mean going back to the basics, health is all about being old school. Even in this age of Fitbits and Endomondo apps, we need to track back and slice into the simple sophistication on enjoying a basic organic apple. Apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavanoids, and dietary fiber. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. So make sure you have a fresh bowl of apples on your desk in your office- space now!

3.  Drinking Water

70% of our body is made up of water, so why not drink more water and make up for the remaining thirty percent? Now you see that’s how you develop a special X-men super power, its call drinking the nectar of life, water. Most office spaces all have those cool and savvy modern filter systems, so if its a little luke warm have it. No doubt the rewards are plenty.Its also a great idea to buy yourself a cool water bottle specially for your office space to keep you motivated, your office mates inspired and this way you fill it right up when its low on the good stuff.  Keep yourself hydrated in the office space with at least 10 glasses of water a day. 4. Move Around and Take a Walk

If you work at really cool office space like Google or Nairobi Garage then definitely move around and take a walk. Look at the sights, breathe in some fresh air and do not hesitate to stroll around the office space, showing off those beautiful moves you’ve got. If you work in a co-work office space its also a great way to network and make friends, you don’t want to be labeled the office space snob. Walking improves your mood, strengthens your bones, muscles and helps stay in balance and coordination in the office space.

 5. Get Proper Sleep 

Do you get to the office space and yawn the first stretch on your desk? Make sure you get at least seven hours of sleep every day, because its best to be sunshine bright for your meeting with the top leagues of tomorrow. Sleep makes you feel better, but its importance goes way beyond just boosting your mood or banishing under-eye circles. Adequate sleep is a key part of a healthy lifestyle, and can benefit your heart, weight, mind, and more. So get sleeping, probably not in the office space but set the bars straight when you get to your crib.

6. Snaking on Smaller Portions

Many co-working office spaces have those cool lounges areas with Kind Bars, fruits, and healthy snack options. If your office space provides these options its beast to keep on a roll of munchies like fruits and nuts, rather than binge on a last minute monster lunch at 4 p.m. Its good to fast but don’t starve, starve isn’t a healthy option in fact it reduces your body metabolism rate and can lead to feeling of malaise at work. So keep yourself rolling on fresh vitamins be it through juices, salads, or even cool energy bars the rule should be to snack on palm size snack every 2 hours. An easy trick to cut a little of your portion size is by using smaller bowls and plates to measure your portion size. Eating smaller frequent meals will not only keep you full, but will also boost your metabolism, leading to weight loss. So start going mini in the office space!

7.  Keep Smiling and Jog On 

Smile! Even if its the worse day in the office space, you can lighten everyone’s spirits just by being optimistic and happy! Happiness is fastest way to heal and contribute to you own well being. Smiling, laughing, and positive thinking have been shown to have a huge number of health benefits to both mind and body. Stress has been linked to a number of health problems, including heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. When you laugh, your body releases endorphins. These are brain chemicals known as neurotransmitters, which make us feel happy. They are also a natural pain and stress reliever. Laughing reduces levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, and gives us a quick burst of energy. A good laugh can be beneficial to the lungs, boost immunity, and could even burn off calories. Smiley, happy people are thought to have more friends and be more successful, by appearing more confident and approachable. Also  while your at making those smiling selfie moments, it would be a wise idea to ensure you get at minimum 30 minutes of exercise daily. Be it jogging, swimming, walking, or simply strolling the office space. Get on to the work out mood with a charming attitude and you will find yourself healthy in no time.
