SWVL joins Nairobi Garage

SWVL, an Egypt-based tech startup that enables riders heading in the same direction to share fixed-route bus trips for a flat fare with no surge pricing, has joined Nairobi Garage’s evergrowing community.

SWVL who is among the pioneers of bus-sharing services in the world will be based in our Ngong Road Office Space. The SWVL app service is up to 70% cheaper than competing on-demand ride-hailing services.

In Egypt alone, the app is available on 140 routes in Cairo and Alexandria. The app allows customers to their pick-up and drop-off points on fixed routes at fixed times, and pay through the app or in cash.

In 2018 alone, it was estimated that Swvl had raised over $38 million through two different funding rounds.

Towards the end of 2018, SWVL announced that they had plans to expand across 10 cities in 2019 including the Philippine capital of Manila, Nairobi, Dakar, and Jakarta. Since entering the Kenyan market, Swvl has now more five main lines [that] are just ‘’one tap away”.

SWVL, now joins companies like Carlsberg, world’s leading brewer, Trama TecnoAmbiental (TTA), World’s largest solar providers, mdundo.com and GSM Systems, Ad Dynamo, TLCom who are also part of Nairobi Garage business network.
