Mawu Africa , a tech supply chain platform and marketplace connecting Africa’s heritage art, artisans and creatives with world markets has been selected to be part of the 2022 #Wazochallengekenya.
The program organized by Hindsight Ventures alongside their Strategic Partner Absa Bank Kenya, Host Partner Adanian Labs, and other ecosystem partners like Axum, Startinev, Intellecap, Freshworks, DigitalOcean, Stepchange Africa, FINCA, International TechBridge Invest, will take the form of a 4-Week Venture Development Bootcamp, culminating with a Grand Demo Day at the India Africa Entrepreneurship Forum on 2nd July 2022.
Mawu Africa now joins nine other startups for the challenge including Kiri EV LTD, Afrigility (Formerly Mzigo.io) , DoctorsLive, Stofresh Africa, Chaptr Global, PayClide, and Biosorra.
The Venture Bootcamp will help establish/reiterate basic venture development processes, enable industry connections, international networks, peer community, and more. During the course of the Bootcamp, each selected startup will get access to $500,000 worth of technology credits that will help them build fast.
Wazo Challenge Kenya is aimed at 18 – 30-year-old Kenyans, who have an idea to solve a local business / social problem, using technology. With a near 55 Mn population having 65 Mn mobile phone subscriptions and 22 Mn internet users – technology will help take the leap forward, and solve social and business problems.
In 2021, Mawu Africa was selected for The Legends – Jasiri Edition, a revolutionary platform conceptualized and implemented by the UK Kenya Tech Hub in conjunction with CIO East Africa.
Mawu Africa was among ten successful startups selected to tell their story on The Legends- Jasiri Edition platform. The stories covered the company’s journey, lessons, obstacles, successes, failures, and what it takes to build a business.
It’s worth noting that a total of close to 100 start-up techpreneurs had applied for the project and thorough evaluation of their stories, the tools, and the tech used to run these businesses was carried out.
