Dalberg and IDH are looking to hire a Fundraising Associate for the IDH-Dalberg strategic partnership.
The role will support both Dalberg and IDH’s leadership in developing and pursuing a rigorous fundraising strategy to allow for crowding in of donor, public and private resources to deliver the strategic priorities and programs that will be prioritised under the partnership.
Specifically, the role will work very closely with the IDH and Dalberg’s senior leadership who form the partnership’s steering committee and IDH’s Fundraising team to achieve an ambitious fundraising strategy.
It is expected that the role will bolster the IDH and Dalberg’s outreach capabilities while exploring new opportunities for strategic funders to support Africa wide or country-specific programs that IDH and Dalberg aim to implement as part of the strategic partnerships to achieve the sustainable and impactful transformation of the agriculture sector.
Further, this role will require rapid identification of potential donors, funders and partners and will develop pitches and investment-ready cases that align with the interests of the funders.
This role reports to the IDH-Dalberg Partnership Steering Committee.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a robust fundraising strategy that incorporates both traditional and novel funding approaches for program delivery
- Develop donor pitches, grant proposals, briefing packs and any other materials for the IDH- Dalberg partnership steering committee
- Develop and manage a calendar for fundraising engagements and events
- Conduct early-stage engagements with donors, funders, investors and the public sector to gauge interest and focus areas that align with the ambitions of the partnership
- Keep track of funding commitments and requirements as they are converted
- Track and report progress on fundraising efforts
- Continuously scan for opportunities to approach potential partners and funders
- Wherever possible, attend fundraising meetings and events with the IDH-Dalberg partnership steering committee

Required qualifications:
- Past successful fundraising experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of the donor and investor landscape in Africa with a particular focus on the agriculture sector
- Master’s degree in PR and Communications, business, finance, economics, or related field (preferred), plus 3 – 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong pitch, proposals and concept note writing capabilities
- Experience engaging private sector partners and forging public-private partnerships in
- Sensitivity to the political and cultural environment of international public agencies or similarly complex environments
- Demonstrated ability to develop meaningful and trusted relationships with donor, investor and public sector stakeholders
- Demonstrated effectiveness as a team player and team builder and performing well in a start-up atmosphere
- Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage time, multiple partners, engagements and workload
- Ability to work well in a team environment and in a matrix project organization
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality pitches and deliver high-level presentations to potential partners
- Fluency in English required. French will be an added advantage.
- Must be authorized to work in either Kenya, Nigeria or South Africa
- Willingness to travel as needed
