Code for Africa who have been members at the space for long, are expanding. The company has 3 open positions it’s looking to fill and it will be awesome to have 3 new members in our community.
Code for Africa is an initiative that seeks to change how people and governments view civic watchdogs. This, with a view of enabling governments serve their citizens better. The company has gone on to introduce flagship projects that are data focused. In Africa information is scarce and if it’s there it’s scanty and often misleading.
Code for Africa has established Data Liberation, Data Tools, Data Fellowships and Data Skills with a view to allow finding of and use of data for development purposes. The company is currently firmly in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa but has projects in over 20+ countries.
Code for Africa is seeking 3 strong additions to their team;
Financial Administrator South Africa/Kenya
The financial administrator will be based in Kenya or South Africa and is required to have managed finances for African NGO’s and MUST have at least a Bachelors degree in Accounting.
Senior Data Editor/ Digital Strategist for African Fellowship
The Senior Data Editor will be working with Code for Africa’s partner the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) to enable the teams there build compelling journalistic projects. You will be also be appointed as a Senior ICFJ Fellow and will have the task of catalyzing the media to deliver ongoing and high quality news.
The ideal candidate is required to have at least 10 years experience as a senior journalist or in a leadership position in the media industry.
Data Journalist/Editor for Fellows in Kenya and South Africa
The data Journalist will be responsible for managing a network of local media networks. Analyzing data and doing metrics as well as supervise in-country teams of journalists and news technologists in either Kenya or South Africa.
