For many African countries, Kenya included, international arrivals has been the lifeline of the tourism sector.
Consequently, domestic tourism has either been ignored or underestimated largely due to the fact that international tourism is an invisible export generating much needed foreign exchange.
In such countries, tourism performance is quoted mainly in terms of international arrivals and resultant revenue generated.
However, over the years and especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic, domestic tourism has experienced a steady growth in Kenya with companies coming up to encourage local travel.
One company that has been a great advocate for local toursim is Let’s DriftKE who currently serve about 500 to 700 people monthly & last year they had over 7000 people on their trails and have grown their team to have over 25 guides.
Lets Drift is now Kenya’s largest community of people who love adventure. Not only that, but our members have also been able to go on more than 800 hikes and other experiences since we started in 2018 and this is driven by the fact that the company has made domestic tourism so affordable, and accessible to everyone, no matter how fit they are or how much they earn.
Currently, the company that is among the incredible company that calls us home at Nairobi Garage // Spring Valley seeks to make the adventure even more affordable accessible, and even safer for all people. The Let’s Drift community hopes to influence local tourism by offering ethical travel experiences and advocating for eco-friendly travel.
