Imagine sipping complimentary coffee, responding to emails uninterrupted, attending back to back meetings with clients, catching up with your daily reports while your child plays with other kids in the next room.

That is what the workplace of the future or the now is envisioned. I would think that this is a dream for any working mum or mum in business.

While that may look like a far-fetched dream, some flexible workplaces around the world are doing it. Some of these coworking spaces have within them, day care centre, play schools, art sessions, nursery schools and even nursing rooms for mums.

Corporates have also not been left behind since companies like Google for instance partnered with family care provider Care.com to provide its employees in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Singapore, Japan, and Australia 10 subsidized days of either in-center or in-home backup childcare per calendar year.

Employees pay a small fee for the subsidized days and can choose to pay the full price of the service if they need it for more than 10 days. Other companies that have childcare facilities include Microsoft, Apple,and Facebook  have children facilities within their workplace ensuring that you deliver at your workplace not having to rush to pick or drop your kids to school

So, as we are still in the celebratory mood of Mother’s Day. Here are some global examples of coworking spaces for mums in businesses. As you make your next family vacation or business and you just need to work with a young one, visit these workspaces and you will probably not regret:

The Inc

The Inc is a flexible workspace based in Seattle.This flexible workspace has a playschool facility that encourages communication and creativity for your young ones. You can easily walk into a meeting room and run office errands with your least worry being your child.

Gravity Coworking

Based in Sydney, Gravity Coworking welcomes mothers who are nursing and bottle feeding. The space has private meeting spaces that double up as mothers’ rooms as well as prayer rooms. Well, it’s not quite different from Nairobi Garage, as we also have private rooms in our Kilimani Office Space that allows breast feeding mums a private time to probably express milk. This child-friendly coworking space also allows all children inside, especially during school holidays.

Recess Collective

Recess Collective is based in San Francisco. Apart from having a playschool for kids, the space also hosts classes for parents and expecting couples, covering everything to childbirth preparation and newborn care to potty training.

Play Work and dash

Play Work and Dash coworking space is based in Virginia. The space has a daily schedule for your kids full of activities, such as arts and crafts, music classes and interactive story time.

What is even more interesting is that parents can check in on their kids thanks to a live video feed of the play area as they work in an office with full amenities.

Play, Work or Dash looks out for busy parents on the weekends too. Every three Saturdays, the facility hosts a “Parents Night Out” where you can drop your kids off for childcare and enjoy a much-needed date night.

Third Door

Located in London, Third Door has an on-site registered nursery that can host about 24 kids, starting from three months until five years old. The site helps you make the most out of your schedule and spend quality time with your child!

The Hive

The Hive is located in Austin, the space’s ultimate goal is to cater to as many needs a parent could have at a co-working space.  The space allows parents to come in with their children. Once in the space, the children can enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas as mums focus on work. And the best part? Two food trucks are stationed outside for those days you don’t feel like cooking.

As you can see, it’s possible to stay focused on your business after giving birth to a baby without leaving it for the whole day. Having child friendly services are some of the office space perks that most employers overlook but are equally important and boost employee productivity.
