As the momentum and uptake of podcasts continues to gain momentum in Africa, we at Nairobi Garage are pleased to welcome Afripods, an innovative, functional and user-friendly platform for podcasters, listeners, and advertisers focused on Africa has joined our ever growing community.

Based at our Kilimani Office Space, the platform was founded in 2017 by Henrik Barck, a Serial Entrepreneur and early stage Investor, The platform is available for both on and off-line use.

Afripods delivers free the best podcasts Africa can offer for your mobile, computer, and all other devices available as we continue our journey.

The platform also gives listeners a platform to listen to their favorite podcast, new voices and great stories produced by Africans, and people interested in Africa, as a truly emerging digital market wherever they are.

The platform also allows one to easily search for their favorite podcast ranging from different genres that includes football, entertainment, politics, music, documentary, fashion or any other of your interest and listen to some of the suggestions provided in the explore section.

Discover new podcasts by browsing different categories and follow the podcasts you care about. Create your own list of favorites by adding episodes and stream or download the podcasts on your mobile device for later listening.

Afripods rating on Google  App store is quite high and to date the application has over 1000+ downloads. The platform has more than 100 podcast channels with some interesting podcasts that I got to listen to ranging from; Sanaa Talks, Hawayuni by Eric Omondi, Ghetto Stories, Quick Tech Chats, and The Blaze.

Podcast market growth over the years

More and more people are currently consuming content through podcast platforms. According to a study by Apple released at the 2019 WWDC Conference, there are more than 550,000 shows available on Apple Podcast platform up from 3,000 programs when Apple launched its Podcast platform back in 2005.

Apple also revealed that there are more than 550,000 active shows, and have over 18.5 million episodes of content. That’s more than 8 million hours of programming. Apple Podcast is available in 155 countries. The Podcast Directory serves an audience in all 155 of those countries with content in more than 100 languages.
