Are you an African Founder running an innovative Africa-focused company with disruptive solutions in the Climate tech, Health tech, and Fintech sectors? Well here is a chance for you to apply for the Africa Tech Awards by VivaTech.
VivaTech and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have teamed up for the second edition of the AfricaTech Awards. This initiative aims to recognize and support innovative Africa-focused companies with disruptive solutions in the Climate tech, Health tech, and Fintech sectors.
Tech entrepreneurs can provide vital solutions to major global challenges, while also driving economic growth and fostering sustainable development. Despite increasing interest from investors, startups in emerging markets often struggle to access the networks and capital they need to scale their businesses.
Through the AfricaTech Awards, VivaTech and IFC aim to create new opportunities for tech companies that are having a transformational impact across Africa.
The winners of the Awards will gain access to leaders and top executives in the tech industry and increased visibility among global investors, including IFC, one of the largest venture capital investors in emerging markets.
The inaugural edition of the Awards, which launched last year, attracted more than 300 applicants.

The AfricaTech Awards, co-hosted by VivaTech and IFC, are part of the AfricaTech program, a core initiative launched at VivaTech in 2017.
Over the past five years, AfricaTech has gone from strength to strength, heightening visibility for Africa’s innovation ecosystem. Since its creation, the program has hosted more than 1,000 African startups and delegations from over a dozen African countries, showcasing the best of their innovations and tech ecosystem.
Past delegations have included African ministers and heads of state such as Macky Sall, President of Senegal, Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda and Felix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo
In 2022, the program welcomed 9 partners, including AG Partners, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Mauritius, the Republic of the Congo, Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), Senegal, South Africa, and Tunisia.
In 2022, the AfricaTech program launched a prize, the AfricaTech Awards, to reward and support innovative startups in three categories – Climate Tech, Health tech and Fintech. This award has been supported and co-organized by IFC – a member of the World Bank Group. Over 300 startups applied for the Awards, 9 companies were hosted at VivaTech to showcase their innovative solutions, and 3 were awarded during a final ceremony on VivaTech’s main stage in front of investors, international media, and top executives from the world of venture capital and tech.
In 2023, VivaTech will focus on the African continent by highlighting the key trends in Africa with the most inspiring thought leaders and experts in a dedicated conference track.
During VivaTech, a dozen African countries will be exhibiting their best startups in the AfricaTech Village where entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their innovative solutions for the African continent.
