Here is some great news for companies looking to scale their business in Liberia. The World Bank is helping the Government of Liberia to prepare an urban development project. The project will serve the capital city Monrovia and its regions.
An objective of this project would be to deliver off-network decentralized solutions for service delivery (across sectors) and create jobs.
Given human and capital constraints, sustainable service delivery solutions will be needed. Solutions that can maximize finance, improve access and service quality. This will ensure improved outcomes and reduce government financial risks. Consequently, under this project, World Bank is looking to identify social enterprises that can improve last mile service delivery. Also, companies that can create jobs for marginalized populations, including developing agribusiness opportunities.
In relation to this, World Bank has opened a call for application to help identify social enterprises that have a proven business model and are willing to expand their existing businesses within Liberia or to replicate an existing model from another country into Liberia.
The World Bank project will be providing grant financing and facilitation support for replication to Liberia. The responses from this application will be used to conduct the first shortlisting of companies who would subsequently be invited for an Interview that will mark the second shortlisting.
The companies that will be selected post the second shortlisting, will then be invited to write business development proposals to receive grant support from the World Bank project to replicate in Liberia.
Sounds like something you will be interested in? Well, here is a link for the application form. Please note that the application deadline for this project is on 5th April 2019.
