Technology in education despite the level is quite key and can never be over-emphasized.
Many of today’s high-demand jobs were created in the last decade, according to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). As advances in technology drive globalization and digital transformation, teachers can help students acquire the necessary skills to succeed in the careers of the future.
How important is technology in education? The COVID-19 pandemic is quickly demonstrating why online education should be a vital part of teaching and learning. By integrating technology into existing curricula, as opposed to using it solely as a crisis-management tool, teachers can harness online learning as a powerful educational tool.
That is why it is important that we get more companies into the EdTech space to help spur innovation among our children and youths. One company leveraging technology in education is Elewa who are our members at Nairobi Garage// Spring Valley.
Elewa supports the development and operationalization of different types of digital learning and coaching through the production of accessible, user-friendly and ultra-scalable platforms. Featuring our own WhatsApp LMS, the Elewa Portal.
The company believes that through application of human-centered and holistic interventions, we can change the narrative and ensure everyone receives the type of education and training that is meaningful and enjoyable to them.
One of the great programs that Elewa has created is iTalanta. iTalanta was spun off from its famous Elewa Academy in Brussels, the iTalanta program trains East-African software-engineers on cutting-edge technology through personalized apprenticeship-programs and on-the-job training. Internally and with international clients.
We had a quick chat with Jente Rossel CEO at Elewa where he spoke to us through the journey of Elewa which he founded sometime back and has grown from a team of two people to about 25 employees.
During the interview, Rossel spoke about the company’s core values and why people are the most important asset for Elewa.
