Choice Crop, a subsidiary company of Judera Group and a member of Nairobi Garage has launched a new online platform called 1516 Spices, a platform that will avail most of their processed spices and herbs online.
The new platform allows consumers to order spices in a single order and have them delivered to their homes in hours.
The 1516 platform will also promote healthy herbs and spices carefully planted, managed and processed in Kenya for the purpose of ensuring retention for its high nutritional value.
Launched with the goal of becoming Africa’s best and most trusted spices marketplace, 1516 Spices platform will be for use on desktop, with Android and iOS apps set for release later.
The platform was founded by a duo youthful Agripreneurs Mr. Gilbert Ngaira and Gerphas Odipo who have also co-founded Judera Group, the mother company of Kilimototo and Choice Crop Kenya.
The production of raw materials has been provided by Kilimototo, a subsidiary company of Judera Group that focuses on providing opportunities for women and youth to realize their ability to produce food crops that can be consumed locally and marketed globally to better improve their income and livelihoods.
Through Kilimototo, women and youth in rural areas are taught modern agricultural farming methods to grow fast-moving crops, increase crop production and facilitate equal access to local and global markets for selling their produce.
Today, Kilimototo is working with more than 50 active women and youth who have successfully engaged in profitable agricultural production across the country. They have also trained, mobilized and coordinated more than 700 women and youth in communities across rural Kenya to produce chilli and African leafy vegetables.
Toto name in Kilimototo connotes the Child. Without access to quality, reliable childcare in the rural areas’ women can be held back from returning to work after having children and earning an income to support their families.
Therefore, through Agriculture Kilimoto supports mothers with children aged 0-5 to access quality Early Childhood Development (ECD) programmes through community-owned affordable daycare centres.
And now, through buying the raw materials from farmers working under Kilimototo, the new 1516 spices will not only help you enjoy the sumptuous taste that comes with the originality of the products but you will also be supporting the experience in the improvement of rural wealth creation.
The products have also been managed and processed for the specified markets and through consistent training and monitoring, 1516 spices guarantee the market of safe, quality and right quantities of the herbs and spices. Currently, the platform offers spices that include chilli, turmeric, garlic and dawa. The products are certified by the relevant government bodies.
