At the Nairobi Garage, we want everybody to feel welcome. Therefore, we’re going to be introducing the new additions to our community to keep you all in the know about what’s going on at the office space.

This week’s new arrival is Moringa School. They are an initiative that equips high potential and passionate individuals with mobile and web development skills in order to pursue their dreams. The initiative was started in April 2014 by co-founders Audrey Cheng and Frank Tamre  when they realized they could lower the current unemployment rate of college graduates by teaching skills in high demand; voila, Moringa School was born.

Moringa School’s 12 week courses aim to teach students everything they need to know in order to become junior mobile and web developers, helping to bolster the booming Kenyan tech market. Partnering with Hack Reactor, Moringa School helps to create opportunities students may not have otherwise.

Moringa School is starting small (they aim to keep class sizes low for individualized attention) but they are rapidly growing. Currently they have five students chosen from a batch of over 100 hundred applicants. In their next cohort they will have upwards of eighteen. The course could be described as a coding boot camp, and isn’t for the faint of heart. Moringa School is designed to turn the untrained and passionate into pros within a couple of months, no easy feat to be sure. The Moringa School is sure to be a great addition to the Nairobi Garage community, and be sure to look them up when you have a need for a new developer as your own start up expands. Make sure to check back with the Nairobi Garage site for the latest on all the new and exciting companies that are joining us or simply drop by the office space along Ngong Road (Click here for directions).
