About the speaker
Wangechi Muriuki, Invest in Africa, Country Director, Kenya Wangechi is an entreprenuer and mission driven leader in Kenya with a track record of championing enterprise growth and development in the Private-Sector that has positively impacted the performance of Small and Medium Enterprises in the region.
She currently serves as the Country Director for Invest in Africa (IIA), a private sector Pan African initiative that is working to drive economic growth and job creation which she set up in Kenya from scratch in 2015. The hallmark of her work at IIA has been spearheading the development of the unique online technology platform ‘The Biashara.Now’.
The platform has played a key role in enhancing trade by providing better access to markets, enhancing SME skills and improving their access to finance for SMEs in Kenya. The platform to date holds over 2000 MSMEs, linked MSMEs to opportunities worth over Kes 270million, trained over 200 and facilitated over Kes 300million in finance.
She has spoken in conferences and workshops both in Kenya and internationally, moderated policy dialogues and has been featured extensively in the media where she has driven thought leadership on key themes touching on Private Sector development and SME development.
She has over 20 years of cross-industry experience, is certified Coach, and Business Excellence Assessor; holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA)-Strategic Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and Bachelor of Science Degree.
