MEST Africa are thrilled to welcome a number of leading partners at this year’s MEST Africa Summit, who will be hosting engaging workshops created specifically for African entrepreneurs and members of the tech community during Ecosystem Day.
MEST Africa Summit is the Pan-African tech conference. The Summit brings together top entrepreneurs, investors, executives and ecosystem players from across Africa, Silicon Valley, Europe and Asia to explore the latest innovations and rising stars in the tech and startup space on the continent.
2019 marks the fourth edition of the MEST Africa Summit, after three amazing events in Accra 2015, Lagos 2016 and Cape Town 2018.
The workshops will be held on June 12th, at the home of MEST Nairobi, during which attendees will also enjoy an exclusive peek into the MEST Training Program and incubator.

9:30 am – 11:30 am – Nairobi Garage Club Space:
The Microsoft workshop will address how Microsoft can help startups grow and expand business through their cloud products. This workshop is suitable for people working in technical teams. By attending this workshop, you will leaving with a better understanding of Microsoft’s offerings across the continent and how to leverage their network to grow your company.
11:00 am – 1:00 pm – ALX Training Space:
As a business leader, you constantly have to be creative and agile in a world of both uncertainty and opportunity. This interactive and experiential session will push everyone to think more creatively, work collaboratively and reflect on how they lead in the midst of inevitable change. This session is for entrepreneurs and leaders who want to learn how to lead and innovate in changing times.
13:45 pm – 14:00 pm – MEST Incubator Space:
The MEST exhibition will serve as a window into the year-long MEST training program and the lives of Entrepreneurs-In-Training. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from our entrepreneurs about their experiences and growth in the program and beyond as founders in one of our Pan-African incubators, and bring their business ideas to an immersive taste of an empathy mapping and pitch session.
13:45 pm – 14:30 pm – ALX Training Space:
This is a workshop for enterprise developers and machine learning practitioners who want to learn how to assemble the ideal hardware and software combinations for deep learning applications. The workshop will cover the data science process using Intel’s AI portfolio of processors and optimized software. During this workshop, participants will gain knowledge on the data science workflow for an image classification problem based on a real-world enterprise example.
14:45 pm – 16:15 pm – MEST Incubator Space:
This workshop will bring together engineers and developers around Nairobi to learn about the basics of Liquid Telecom’s IoT platform and its ability to build IoT devices at scale. Liquid will offer technical training on Liquid Telecom IoT and Cloud platforms covering how to integrate your IoT devices with Sigfox Connection. Liquid will also present a few use cases and examples, along with an overview of how you can use the existing IoT open source materials in your next IoT project.
14:45 pm – 15:30 pm – Nairobi Garage Club Space:
StratLink will facilitate a workshop on convertible notes for early stage companies. This financial instrument has became popular with both investors and entrepreneurs. What are some of the pro’s and cons when considering this funding mechanism? We will cover definitions, structures, case studies and a working session so entrepreneurs can confidently negotiate convertible notes in their next fundraise.
