EVENT // DataHack4FI In-Country Finale

It feels like yesterday that we officially launched Season 2 of DataHack4FI! 8 teams out of an impressive 40 applications have made it to the finale that will be held on 17th April 2018 at Nairobi Garage.
The 8 teams will battle it out to win $5000 and a trip to Kigali to participate at the grand finale where they stand the chance to win $25,000! Other prizes include Microsoft Azure credits that are worth an incredible $7000 and co working space at Nairobi Garage. Our newly opened Club space is already waiting to be called home to the runner up! We just cant wait to welcome our new members!
Over the last three months, the fintech teams have been developing solutions that tackle some of the most prominent financial inclusion that our population faces. Traditional Banking models, are well established but don’t have universal reach and our fintechs are here to see how they can offer services that suite the un-served or under-served! Go teams!
Who are the participants?
The participating teams will be: Asilimia, MFI analytics, MOSE, Pezesha, Data Integrated, Finplus, Apps Lab and Wazinsure. All eight teams have collected alternative data to drive their solutions and gain insights about low-income consumers and the products or services that would be beneficial to them. They will present their solutions as an elevator pitch and will be judged on criteria that scrutinise their ability to present solid Data Analytics, Innovation and Financial Inclusiveness.
The judges for the evening will be Billy Owino (CEO, Transunion), Winnie Odhiambo (Associate Partner Idev International), Leonida Mutuku (CEO Intelpro), Dr Bitange Ndemo (Former PS of ICT and Senior Lecturer at Nairobi University and Tim Mukata (Innovation Lead at FSD Kenya)
