After Office Hours with Tom Osborn

In our fast-paced and demanding modern world, there is an ever-increasing recognition of the paramount importance of mental health. Its profound impact resonates through every aspect of our lives, including our professional well-being.

The World Health Organization (WHO) sheds light on the alarming statistics, revealing that approximately one in four people worldwide will encounter a mental health disorder at some point in their lives. These conditions transcend age groups and cultures, affecting individuals from all walks of life.

Among the prevailing mental health disorders globally, depression stands as a formidable foe. An astonishing 264 million people, spanning all ages, are grappling with this relentless challenge, and shockingly, many cases remain undiagnosed and untreated.

As these numbers continue to surge with time, it becomes increasingly crucial to address mental health issues, particularly conditions like depression and anxiety, which are significantly impacting the lives of young people, especially in Africa.

In light of this urgent public health priority, the Shamiri Institute was founded a few years ago. Its noble mission is to deliver evidence-based mental health care to young people in Kenya, a country where only two psychiatrists serve every million individuals.

The Institute’s vision is to make mental health affordable for all, personalized to an individual’s needs and circumstances, and integrated within existing systems of caregiving and community life

Join our After Office Hours session this month with Tom Osborn, CEO and Founder of the Shamiri Institute.

During the session Tom will delve into the vital subject of mental health, exploring ways to foster healthier and more supportive work environments that empower everyone.

Having started his first company at the age of 19 years, Tom will also share valuable insights on his journey into entrepreneurship and the lessons gathered over the years.

Beyond that, this exceptional session is a unique opportunity to discover how Shamiri Health’s work is a blueprint for transforming workplace culture across the globe and empowering leaders with innovative approaches to actualize their teams’ potential.
