After Office Hours Recap: 10 Years of Speaking Truth to Power

What role does investigative journalism play in building a more transparent and accountable society?

That was the question at the heart of our latest After Office Hours, where we had the privilege of welcoming John-Allan Namu, Co-Founder of Africa Uncensored, for an insightful conversation titled “10 Years of Speaking Truth to Power: Citizen and Investigative Journalism for Accountability.”

Drawing on a decade of leading one of Africa’s most respected independent investigative newsrooms, John-Allan shared his reflections on the evolving role of journalism in holding institutions to account, amplifying overlooked voices, and helping citizens better understand the issues shaping their communities.

The discussion explored the importance of independent media in today’s rapidly changing information landscape, the responsibility that comes with telling difficult stories, and why trust, integrity, and rigorous reporting remain as important as ever.

As with every After Office Hours session, the conversation continued well beyond the presentation.
