Workshop // Financial Planning for Business Success

Africa has seen a boom in the growth of SMEs. According to The International Monetary Fund  (IMF’s) Regional Economic Outlook for Sub-Saharan Africa study, small and growing businesses create around 80% of the region’s employment, establishing an aspiring economy that demands new goods and services.

The same study further shows that by 2035 the number of Africans joining the working age group will exceed that of the rest of the world combined and therefore creates the opportunities for Jobs in the SME sector.

With this positive trajectory in mind, many SMEs in Africa are now subjected to  the challenge of establishing financial structures for strategic planning and management. Businesses struggle to  maximise the use of financial data to drive dynamic and innovative businesses and more often than not, what is at their fingertips is underutilized and undermined.

Anne Kimari, Managing Consultant at Finebridge Associates Limited strives to further executives skills in financial practices for their own businesses to maximise on growth opportunities

About the Speaker

CPA Anne Kimari is currently the Managing Consultant, Finebridge Associates Limited, a Consulting House that provides Financial and Business Advisory Services to SMEs and Microfinance service providers. She has over 20 years’ experience in the Corporate, SME and Microfinance Sector. Her firm also provides Accounting, Tax and Audit Services.

Anne began her career in PricewaterhouseCoopers as an External Auditor based in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam for a period of 6 years.  She has also been a Finance Manager at a Marketing Firm EXP Momentum Limited, Chief Finance Officer at Faulu Kenya Microfinance Bank (Faulu) – the first institution to receive the Microfinance Bank License from Central Bank of Kenya in 2009.

She went on to become the Chief Executive Officer at Jitegemee Trust (business name Jabali Microserve), Her latest position was that of Chief Operating Officer of an International Pan African NGO based in Nairobi, the African Academy of Science where she led the Finance Function among other functions.

Anne, has trained in SME Banking in Germany with Frankfurt School., She is a part time lecturer at KCA University and now Manages her own firm in Accounting and Audit practice and consultancy.

She is a member of the ACCA Global Forum for SMEs since 2011.  She is board member in World Vision Kenya, Juhudi Kilimo Limited and  Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF).
