The Topic of Understanding Payroll Taxes and deductions is a particularly challenging one to SMEs and those who are starting out in business.  

Many entrepreneurs start off solo, but with time find that they need to have additional people to support the work they do, many will look for a casual employee whom they pay per work or as the need arises, sometimes the casual employee becomes more and more needed and eventually is required to be at work every day and is assigned duties and roles.  

For many, It is only when they get a visit from KRA, or NHIF or NSSF do they regularize their Payroll management.  Join us for this workshop and learn the basics around payroll taxes and statutory deductions and how you can avoid some basic mistakes early enough.

  • The pros and cons of contracting or not contracting while hiring on a contract or permanently,
  • What you ought to know when it comes to Pay as you Earn,
  • The costs that you should be aware of when it comes to NHIF,
  • NSSF – What are the dos and don’ts,

  • How the Annual Tax filing is done when you only have Income from employment.

About the Speaker

Anne Kimari is currently the Managing Consultant, Finebridge Associates Limited, a Consulting House that provides Financial and Business Advisory Services to SMEs and Microfinance service providers. 

She has over 20 years of experience in the Corporate, SME, and Microfinance sectors. Her firm also provides Accounting, Tax and Audit Services. Anne began her career in PricewaterhouseCoopers as an External Auditor based in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam for a period of 6 years.  

Anne has also been a Finance Manager at a Marketing Firm EXP Momentum Limited,   Chief Finance Officer at Faulu Kenya Microfinance Bank (Faulu) – the first institution to receive the Microfinance Bank License from Central Bank of Kenya in 2009.  She went on to become the Chief Executive Officer at Jitegemee Trust (business name Jabali Microserve). Her latest position was that of Chief Operating Officer of an International Pan African NGO based in Nairobi, the African Academy of Science where she led the Finance Function among other functions.

Anne has trained in SME Banking in Germany with Frankfurt School., She is a part-time lecturer at KCA University and now Manages her own firm in Accounting and Audit practice and consultancy. She is a  Fellow of ACCA and a member of the ICPAK.
