Nairobi Garage celebrates Finance this month, and we do it with a bang. Why? Only because we will have the most incredible and respected business magnate in the entire world for our monthly After Office Hours talk!
We are very excited and privileged to be able to welcome Aly Khan Satchu to the Nairobi Garage on the 27th of July 2017. Aly Khan will take us through his inspiring story, his strategy and the necessity to seize opportunities. CEO and Founder of Investment Advisory firm Rich Management Ltd and active investor in the Nairobi Stock Exchange, The USE and other African Stocks markets, Aly Khan Satchu has had an inspiring career.
Born in Mombasa and studied in the U.K, he’s always known that his heart was in trading. Aly-Khan started off his career as the lowest ranking officer at a bank. Regardless, he never lost sight of his dream to trade. His big break came at the age of 27 by making an offer to the banks VP… “I am going to work for you for four pounds an hour. If I don’t perform, fire me”. Aly Khans target was $1 million dollars… He made $15 million for the Bank.
From that point, he ran global trading desks for Credit Suisse and lived through the financial crisis in Latin America. He has controlled balance sheets in excess of $17 billion when heading Sumitomo Bank as MD in 95. From 1998-1999 Aly-Khan was the Treasurer and Director of all collateralized lending at ANZ Investment Bank. Finally, Aly-Khan was an Executive Director at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in charge of Emerging Market Financing and Short Term Interest rates. During his time in various banks Aly-Khan has been given significant proprietary trading limits. He has traded nearly all instruments – Futures, Options, Repos, Bills and Bonds, Basis trading et al.
