World over, March 8 is commemorated as International Women’s Day. The 2022 celebrations were themed Break the Bias, with everyone being called upon to imagine a gender-equal world, free of prejudice, stereotypes, and discrimination.
This year’s Women’s Day and month came at such a time when women’s empowerment has taken center stage in most African countries hence the need to hear the stories of more women entrepreneurs who have broken barriers on gender biases in businesses as well as women leading industries today while paving the way for the next generation.
In line with this, join us for the #AfterOfficeHours Session with Mercy Kyallo, CEO and Founder Yallo Leather as she shares with us the biases she has experienced as a young black woman entrepreneur in her field.
Mercy will also walk us through her entrepreneurship journey, how she found a footing in the leather industry, an industry that is slightly untapped into yet according to The World Bank, the world trade in leather is currently growing and is estimated at more than $100 billion a year and the demand for leather and leather products is growing faster than supply.

Mercy Kyallo is the Founder and Director of Yallo Leather, a company that designs and manufactures functional leather goods for the modern man. The company consistently develops products that meet market trends and industry demands.
The company’s mission is to ensure that every product we make achieves a design and performance balance. The product range includes laptop bags, travel bags, Ipad and tablet covers, and many more.
Mercy holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Public Relations, Marketing, and Applied Communication from Daystar University.
Before founding Yallo Leather, Mercy was the Marketing Director of Batian Crest Holdings, She also worked as an Account Management at Transcend Media Group & also Public Relations officer at Postal Corporation of Kenya.
Mercy describes herself as a young spirited entrepreneur and marketing enthusiast. She enjoys the business environment and the art of building strong brands through innovation and strategic planning.
