After Office Hours with Ben Kiruthi

February 27, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Photography business in Kenya

Although quite a young industry in Kenya, the photography sector has of the recent past gained grasp and proven to be lucrative. Over the years,  the sector has indeed evolved.

From the ‘village photographers,’ we grew up knowing to the modern, sophisticated and technology-fueled photographer that owns and works with a host of digital cameras, lights, and editing suites.

These creative and diligent photographers are raising the bar by combining the significance of art, history, storytelling, our country’s culture, and digital awareness to produce high-quality photographs that are not only being recognized locally and globally.

This growth It is this consistent growth that has fueled a trade that was in the past been looked down upon. Photographers today are part of a significant set of professionals that are reaping handsome business returns by monetizing their craft.

Two questions beg. What has led to this sustained growth in the photography sector? And can this growth be compounded so we have even more entrepreneurs considering it?

February, is the month of love and there is no one who could tell it better, with years of capturing love and bliss through wedding photography, we couldn’t think of anyone better.

When it comes to Kenyan Photography, he is a household name, however, what you might not know is he left, his engineering job with a leading Telecommunications company in Kenya, to pursue his passion for photography. However, at times when it comes to business, it takes more than passion to stay a float.
