A lot happened this year. So much that we find it hard to to pick our favorite moment. There were just too many! Therefore we’ve decided to reflect on a whole bunch of them:
// Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, spent a day at Nairobi Garage as a part of the global launch of Windows 10. He got to know the local tech ecosystem, met our members and took selfies with them. We had a blast!
// Mid this year Quartz joined Nairobi Garage, and we’ve been working closely together ever since. And then there was Quartz Innovators Summit at Sankara! #whatanight
// We entered a friendship agreement with Nest. Not only it means that we really like each other, but also that our members now have a soft landing in Hong Kong when scaling to Asia.
// Our GM Hannah represented Nairobi Garage at the Global Innovators Summit. Yes, president Obama was there too. #POTUS
// It’s been wonderful to see many of our members do well. Brunch, Mdundo and Code4Africa have all gone through fundraising and are expanding outside Kenya. Congrats guys! #NGisproud
// Yum got a new CEO! After 2 years of hard work, YUM’s former boss Dana left Nairobi to explore other possibilities. Though we were upset at first, their new CEO Layne seems to to have brought a lot of positivity and energy to their whole team and Nairobi Garage community in general. Cheers to that!
// Uber officially launched in Nairobi and made all of our lives way easier. No endless waits for taxis that never come!
And last but not least – we expanded! Our new space in Westlands is up and running, with hundreds of new members joining our community in the next few months.
All of this wouldn’t have happened without all of the amazing people that’s turned into Nairobi Garage family. Huge thanks to all of you!
Also importantly, thank you to 88mph, Seacom, Safaricom & Microsoft for powering us throughout the year.
We are beyond excited to see what 2016 brings to us. Have a wonderful holiday time and see you again next year!
